“Invisalign” treatment consists of a series of thin, clear removable aligners (also called positioners) that are worn over the teeth for one to two weeks at a time. These aligners apply gentle pressure on the teeth to move them into the desired position; each is worn for two weeks before moving onto the next one. As they are removable, the aligners can be taken out for eating and cleaning but must be worn for approximately 22 hours a day if treatment is to be successful.
The number of aligners that have to be worn will vary according to the type of tooth movements to be carried out. The price will vary according to the difficulty of the bite problem to be treated and this will be explained at the outset.
As useful feature of the “Invisalign” system is the “ClinCheck”, where proposed treatments can be viewed on screen as a virtual computer animation to give both the orthodontist and patient an idea of the treatment outcome.
It should be said that “Invisalign” gives best results when used for milder orthodontic problems.
